Well, here it goes. I have never had a blog before, but I thought this would be a good time to start. I'm winding down my years at Malone and getting ready to start new after I graduate. I still don't know what next year will bring, but I know God has plans for me and I have to trust in Him. What I do know is that I will be heading back down to Tegucigalpa, Honduras this December 27th through January 5th! I just fell in love with the country and the people during my last trip there in June and I was already thinking about coming back before we had even left. I didn't think it would be as soon as December, but after a lot of praying and a lot of talking with family and friends, it felt that it was time to go again.
I am very excited to go down once again to serve and love the beautiful people of this country. There is nothing better than allowing God to work through you to reach others. One thing from the last trip that I found to be amazing was how other regarding the people here were. When we were building houses, it was incredible how many people who did not have sufficient shelter themselves came to help their neighbors and build along side of us. This wasn't the only case where I saw this happen, it was all over. Going to Honduras is definitely a humbling experience that opened my eyes. It is such a blessing to have the opportunity to return :)
When we go down in December, we will be doing a lot of the same activities as we did in June, including: building houses, feeding people in the streets and in the city dump, visiting children at multiple orphanages and hospitals, providing donations, and many other activities that may come up.
If you want to read more about the types of things we do during our time down there, go to http://ashinhonduras.blogspot.com. Ashley Lauer is an incredible person that has a strong heart to serve and you can see this when you read her blog.
If you want to help with our trip or be involved with this type of service but don't have the time, there is a way. Prayers are very important, and I ask for prayers so that we may be prepared to show these people compassion, reach out to those who need love, serve, and to just allow God to work through us in everything we may do. The cost of the trip is about $1500 per person, and if you feel compelled to support financially, there is a donation button on the right side of my blog through paypal. You may also mail a check to my address, if you need an address, you can e-mail me at kedowning89@yahoo.com.
I would like to thank you all for any prayers and support you may provide. I am looking forward to this trip and I will keep everyone updated with any happenings. I plan on using this blog more often starting now, so you'll be hearing from me about the trip and other happenings soon!
